It's me, hi. I'm the writer, writing.

Mid-2023 writing update: I worked on a project for the bulk of last year that, for reasons I won't get into, will not be going anywhere. It's taken me months of "mourning" and time away from it to acknowledge the lesson that writing it was, and to let it go. I was trying so hard to write something—anything—to sell that it ended up backfiring. My work and self-esteem suffered...a lot.

Luckily, I have an agent who is wiser than me who talked me back down to earth, and patient friends who help me feel less terrible for not churning out books "fast enough" (sigh).

I have six book ideas and drafts in various stages (hence the 157k), but I’m focusing on fleshing out a complete Draft 2 of my NaNo project, code name "memory book". It's a cozy, HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE-esque fantasy adventure with echoes of Neil Gaiman's STARDUST. Working on it is challenging me creatively, and I'm enjoying figuring out all I can do. I know it's cheesy, but it feels like the montage in a movie where the main character tests out all their powers for the first time—that's me. Writing is magic, after all. 💫

I am still staying off social media for the most part. In the past months, I've been going through a lot of inner change—and change is hard (that's kinda the whole point)! Social media is the lowest priority when taking care of myself. I hope you're still making magic of your own; and if I've missed a milestone, I apologize. I hope you trust I'm cheering with you in spirit! I love the writing community and promise to be back soon.
